Jana

For the last few months, we’ve been keeping a small secret. Well, today is the day we can finally spill the beans.

Construction of Jana's New Office Space
We’re excited to announce that Jana has found a new home at 101 Arch Street in Boston’s Downtown Crossing. Even though it’s not a geographically big move—it’s only a 5-minute walk away—it’s a huge step for us as a company.

Over the last year, we’ve welcomed many new team members across the company—from marketing and sales, to engineering and product. While all of these new team members were doing amazing work making the Internet free for the next billion, we were slowly bursting at the seams in our 5,000 sq/ft office space.

Owning our space problem

To deal with the problem, the team stepped up and “owned it.” We instituted scrappy solutions like mobile Wi-Fi hotspots so we could work from the beautiful Boston Common and we cut down on unnecessary meetings when conference rooms became sparse. However, we quickly realized that we needed a permanent solution to our problem if we wanted to continue growing as an organization.

Measure it! More room to get stuff done

Jana 101 Arch Street Office Space Café

Our new space at 101 Arch Street is 18,500 sq/ft, which offers us plenty of room to stretch out and “get stuff done.” We now have the space to more than double our current team! With 22 break-out spaces, we have plenty of room to collaborate in small one-on-one groups or as larger teams. That’s 5x more meeting room space than we had in our Tremont Street office. Talk about “measuring it!”

Jana keeps having fun

Since one of Jana’s core values is to “have fun,” our new office space is packed with fun elements. There’s a hidden conference room, video games, lots of free snacks, and a completely open floor plan to help facilitate collaboration and social time. Of course, our company traditions of daily social time together, monthly team outings, regular lunch-and-learns, and weekly happy hours will continue at 101 Arch. We also wanted our new space to reflect our mCent users, so we included art and textiles from the various countries where our app is used as a daily reminder of the people whose lives we strive to change.

We’re excited to be neighbors with other great Boston startups like Localytics and LevelUp and be surrounded by the lively Downtown Crossing area.
